United Kingdom

Lebanon

A Panamanian flagged cargo ship capsizing in stormy seas off the coast of Tripoli. It was carrying more than 80 people and tens of thousands of sheep. The Lebanese military and port officials report a number of deaths, and say dozens of sailors were rescued, but dozens more were still missing.

South Korea

A convoy of trucks delivering medicine over the border to North Korea to treat up to half a million cases of the H1N1 virus. The secretive communist nation acknowledged for the first time last week that so-called swine flu had broken out there.

Poland

The infamous Nazi sign declaring, ‘WORK SETS YOU FREE’, stolen from over the entrance to the Auschwitz death camp. It’s made of iron; about 16 feet long, and weighs about 90 pounds. The museum put up a replica of the sign for now. But Poland’s president says he is, quote, “Shaken and outraged by the theft”. More than one million people, mostly Jews, died in the Auschwitz death camp during World War 2.
